Diagnostic Imaging

In this section, you will find a brief review of each of the imaging modalities and other tools employed in diagnostic imaging, with explanations and illustrations of how they work, what they can be used for, what their advantages and disadvantages are and how we go about interpreting them.

Please select an option from the menu to read more about each imaging modality, and to learn about other aspects of diagnostic imaging including the terminology we use when describing what we see on various types of imaging studies.

In the case studies section, you will find hundreds of example of interesting pathology. These are categorized primarily by organ system although there is also an ‘Emergencies’ category which contains examples of most of the disease processes you would be expected to be able to diagnose as a medical student.
