Hallux valgus

Hallux valgus

Hallux valgus. This female patient has severe lateral subluxation of the first toe. Hallux valgus is predisposed to by ill-fitting shoes, is more common in women, and can cause pain and swelling in the soft tissues medial to the first metatarsal head (a bunion), as well as early onset of osteoarthritis of the first MTP joint.
