Asbestos plaques. This example shows the typical appearance of pleural plaques, secondary to previous asbestos exposure. In this patient, the plaques are calcified, but this is not always the case. The lower thorax is typically more severely affected, often resulting in extensive plaques in the diaphragmatic pleura.
